Ancient Language
Ancient symbols can be found everywhere in Atlantis.
They are for example at stairs, in Puddle Jumpers or at or next to door controls.
You can often see them at computer consoles and in Ancient computer programs.
Ancient symbol numbers can be often found at consoles in Atlantis.
At the first quick look they only seem to be decorations.
Actually these symbols are letters that form words and sentences that do make sense.
So you can get a lot of knowledge by taking a better look at the Atlantis and Ancient technology and translating the Ancient symbols in common letters.

Ein bißchen Spaß ist natürlich auch oft dabei, wenn zum Beispiel in der Stargate SG-1 Staffel 8 Episode "Affinity" Daniel Jackson eine Nachricht von einem früheren NID Agenten in Antikisch erhält und diese übersetzen muss.
Die Nachricht lautet:
ACTUAL WORDS ARE HARD TO DECIPH SO THISLL WORK
Übersetzung: "Eigentliche Wörter sind schwer zu entziffern, also wird das funktionieren."
The table legs of the consoles in the control room say Selbst auf den Tischbeinen an einer der Konsolen im Kontrollraum steht etwas mit möglicherweise folgenschwerer Bedeutung.

There are Ancient letters scrolling across a computer screen in the Atlantis control room and other rooms. They say: Auf dem Bildschirm im Kontrollraum und auf anderen solchen Kontrollbildschirmen wird immer wieder eine Buchstabenkette mehr oder weniger vollständig durchgescrollt.
Die Nachricht lautet wie folgt:
WHERE OH WHERE HAS MY LITTLE DOG GONE OH WHERE
THE WILDERNESS
"Wo oh wo nur ist mein kleiner Hund hingegangen"
"In die Wildnis"
(an art department joke) (Dabei handelt es sich mal wieder um einen kleinen Spaß des Art Departments.)
The horizontal gibberish you sometimes read on those screens is just the following message encoded with Rot21 (i.e. each letter was rotated by 21 letters in the alphabet)
Entschlüsselt lautet der Text wie folgt:

Manchmal werden Ausschnitte dieser Nachricht auch mehrere Male ohne zusätzliche Verschlüsselung angezeigt.
The Puddle Jumper console (pic 1, 2, 3) translates into Die Konsole im Puddle Jumper zeigt auch eine Nachricht.
Diese lässt sich wie folgt übersetzen:
GATE PROTOCOLS MUST BE SET BEFORE LAUNCH SEQUENCE
NEVER ATTEMPT GATE REENTRY WHEN IN CLOAK M(ode?)
"Gate Protokolle müssen eingestellt sein bevor die Startsequenz initiiert wird"
