History and Layouts

Here ist an overview about the past layouts which I used for Chevron 26. The first layouts have not really a "desing", nobody can call them "layouts". I just was a beginner in html and design when I started this project so the first "layouts" looked horrible. This whole project is done by the principle 'Learning-by-doing'. My only source of help was a book called "HTML 4.0". The CD-Rom which was originally attached to this book got lost (the book was second hand). I was sad that I didn't have the CD-ROM with html-programs but I got along with my project without the CD-ROM...

Everywhere where you see white spaces on the images there were php scripts which didn't load when the pictures was taken.

Version 1

The beginning....

a simple frameset, although my dad persuaded against the use of a frameset for the beginning. He thought I would be to complicated but I was stubborn and did what I wanted to do because it was and it is my own project...

a frameset helps you a lot because you don't have to change every single page when you change something in the navigation menue

Pure html and a few small javascripts.
Version 2

Html, javascript and a few buttons as second menue on the right site
Version 3

the red color for the left navigation menue was just too shocking...

Mouseover-effects on the navigation menues left and top.

I was very proud about the 3/4 Stargate on the right site because this is not one picture but two pictures in two different frames. I was a lot of work to fit the images in the frameset together...
Version 4

The navigation got a little bit pretentious - it was a menue with mouseover- und dropdown-effect.

Html, Javascript und CSS.
Version 5

the first version where I added php. First I added a newsscript and a counter which you unfortunately cannot see on this picture.
Version 6

the image on top of the page was not very well designed although I used a grid effect...
Version 7

I did not like the layout so I changed this again...
Version 8

it took to long to load the page

html, iframes, css, javascript, php
Version 9

the layout was not shown correct if visitors used Norton Internet Security, these visitors could not seen the navigation, too

html, iframes, css, javascript, php
Version 10

with the old news system

html, frames, css, javascript, php
