They awake to find themselves in a Laboratory with the only living survivor of the planet’s population, Harlan, who appears to be a harmless but eccentric human. When the team enquire as to what happen to them Harlan will only say that he has made the “better”. Against Harlan’s advice the team return to earth and whilst undergoing their normal post mission medical they discover that they are no longer human. Much to everyone’s horror, Harlan has turned them all into machines, with the consciousness of their former self in a robotic body. Thereby becoming “better”. The team are suddenly all taken ill and are forced to return to the Harlan’s planet where O’Neill demands some answers. Harlan tells them that no only are their physical bodies no longer in existence but that they must stay in proximity with the power generators of the planet for their robotic bodies to keep functioning.
